Pain-Free Feet

Every girl loves the way she looks in heels, but we almost all hate the way our feet feel when we’re wearing them. The balls of our feet become tender, we get blisters on our heels and toes, not to mention the tension in your ankle from stabilizing your weight...in this blog, I’m going to share a couple of pain-free feet hacks to make your girls night out or your week competing at Miss International a whole lot more enjoyable!

Hack 1: Buy Shoes that Fit!

This is the first and arguably most important hack. If your shoes are too small or too big, you are guaranteed to get blisters. There isn’t a band-aid in the world that can save you from that. If at all possible, try your heels on and walk around the store in them before you commit to buying them. *Remember, standing in one spot and walking around are two totally different things.* I know it can be disappointing if the store doesn’t have your size and you try to justify squeezing into a half size down or going up a size...DON’T DO IT! Your feet will thank you (and me) later.

Hack 2: Waterproof Sponge Tape

This hack only works if you are wearing a floor length dress and people won’t really see your feet. I have used this mainly for modeling purposes, but it works for pageantry too...buy waterproof sponge tape from your local drugstore and wrap the balls of your feet. This is especially helpful if you’ll be standing for longer periods of time in really high heels.

Hack 3: Advil. Advil. Advil.

There comes a certain point where the only thing to turn to is Advil. This anti-inflammatory will keep your feet from swelling and diminish any pain you’re feeling. It shouldn’t be the first go-to, but if you know you are going to have a long day on your feet, you should keep a few tablets on your person or in your bag to ensure you’re prepared.

Hack 4: Work the Wedges

Now more than ever there are a ton of cute wedge options. Wedges provide your foot a larger base and support the arch of your foot more, as well. When appropriate, you should opt for wedges for maximum comfort and style. Some of my favorite shoes from Miss International week were my wedges.

Let’s be honest, life isn’t near as much fun if all you can think about is how much your feet hurt, so I hope you’ll implement some of these hacks to make your next date night, girls’ night out, and/or week at Miss International a time you won’t forget- in the good way!

Until next time,
