PACE
Our move to Jacksonville is allowing for some incredible organizational partnerships to be made. One of these partnerships is with the PACE Center of Jacksonville. PACE Centers offer services for young women who have experienced adversity in the form of abuse, trauma, and neglect, or who have risk factors that could cause academic underachievement.
PACE Centers offer academic, social services, and transition services for the young women enrolled (ages 12-17). Take a look at some of the statistics from PACE for the ladies when they enter and after they have left…. Truly astounding!
Think about these statistics…
50% of our girls live in neighborhoods with higher than average crime rates
30% of our girls reported physical, emotional or sexual abuse before coming to PACE
40% of our girls used drugs and alcohol prior coming to PACE
What kind of success do girls have after leaving PACE?
90% had no involvement with Juvenile Justice within a year of leaving PACE!
91% were in school or employed three years after leaving PACE!
100% improved their academic performance!
Where do we come in? The PACE Center of Jacksonville has already served over 3,000 girls since its inception in 1985 and with our help it can be so many more! They are in dire need of personal hygiene products (shampoo, conditioner, body wash/shower gel, deodorant, new bras and underwear in various sizes). I know your suitcases will be practically packed to capacity in Jacksonville, but I urge you to think of the girls at the PACE Center and bring 2 items with you that can be donated to this worthy cause. During the week, Haley and I will deliver the donations and I can’t wait to show them the generosity and selflessness that our contestants possess.
