How To Help This Holiday Season

The Holiday Season is coming up! Most people do not realize how many opportunities for giving open up around this time! Here are a few ideas on how you can spread holiday cheer to those in your community and beyond.

1. Crafting with Seniors
If you like art or making crafts share your gift! Nursing homes or assisted living facilities are usually very open to activities. Call around your community and see if you can teach a basic holiday craft making class! Not only is it fun for you, the residents will have a fun decoration for their room!

2. Angel Tree
If you do not have enough time to physically go and volunteer but you have a little extra cash purchase an Angel Tree gift. Usually at churches or even local Walmart there are Christmas trees with ornaments that give a child in needs name,a necessity like a hat, shoes size 7 or gloves, as well as a gift they would like for Christmas that year. After purchasing those items you wrap them and drop them off wherever it is specified (usually the same location you picked up the ornament). This is an easy and less time consuming way to make a child's Christmas one to remember.

3. Food Bank
Any local food bank is busy during the holiday season. They try to make Christmas special for those who are unable to even afford food. Usually volunteers as well as food drives happen during this time. If you can I encourage you to volunteer or donate something they need. Taking an hour out of your day can make someone's whole holiday season.

I hope these simple ideas inspire you to get active in your community this holiday season!
