National Pageant Preparation

Spring is in the air and summer is almost here! Before you know it you will be packing your bags and heading to Charleston to make your dream a reality! If you haven’t been to national pageant, you will learn that it is allot different competing for a day or two, then it is a week! There are a few things to remember when preparing for a national pageant that you want to keep in mind these next few months. I wanted to discuss the main key factor of what makes a national experience a little more challenging and some helpful tips on what you can do now and during pageant week to better prepare yourself.

Your days are long physically and mentally!

When you get your schedule you will see that the days are packed from early mornings until late evenings with little downtime. It’s very important to get as much sleep as you can. You do not want lack of sleep changing your personality. Maybe pack your favorite pillow or your favorite comfy pajamas. I packed my oil diffuser and my favorite natural oils that help me sleep and relax, it also brought me a sense of home to my room. But its most important when its rest time, you rest!

There may be a time where you get physically or mentally exhausted after a few days of non-stop activities and just the extra stress competition can bring, so it’s important to keep your energy up! You can increase your stamina now by getting in shape and preparing your body. Some spiritual reading and a daily devotional will also help your mind preparation. Then during pageant week stay properly hydrated and get PROPER nutrition! Drinks LOTS of water and eat! This will help keep your energy level up!

You’re on the go and on your feet, from rehearsals to appearances you will be on your feet a lot! You can practice now by getting used to that, wear heels a little more often daily if you’re not used to it. Pack some cute and comfy wedges so you can remain fashionable while saving your feet for competition days. During pageant week pack some padded insole cushions, especially for your competition heels, and mole skin for blister prevention. When you have a chance to rest your feet, take the opportunity. You don’t want your blisters preventing your walk on stage.

We all know we’re not the same if we’re tired. So do not let the week of competition and your stamina check you out of a week-long competition, prepare your mind and your body now! Then during pageant week, take the proper care of yourself mentally and physically that you will need to last the week.

Best of luck in all your preparations!
