DC Fashion Week is a big event in our nation’s capitol which celebrates both local and international fashion designers and models. There are events all week and Thursday evening I attended the Fashion Week networking party on the rooftop of a Bistro in DC. The fantastic rooftop view showcased the monuments and the buildings that keep our country running smoothly. As the sun set, the lights dimmed inside and the excitement built. The event was heavily attended by the media. While Ashley, Miss International, and I were waiting for the fashion show to begin, Ashley went to get a bottle of water. Unfortunately, she went thirsty because she didn’t make it very far before the paparazzi and their cameras flashes caused her to retreat back to her seat without water.
The fashion presentation for the evening, showcasing the designer collection “Wolf Versus Goat” finally began! The show featured 21 looks from Washington, DC’s most cutting edge designers. Did I mention that it was a male model fashion show? The show featured the best male models in DC not to mention special guest models, DC United soccer players!
After the show, Ashley and I met up with DC International queens, Chelsey and Alexis. They are so much fun and I am so glad to have such a tight-knit pageant family right here in DC! Of course we got plenty of pictures on the red carpet in front of the DC Fashion Week step and repeat. I wore the chic Sherri Hill opening number dress which was sponsored by Joey Rutherford of the Competitive Image in Dothan, Alabama, for the Miss Teen International 2010 pageant. I got so many compliments on my dress from high fashion designers- all I can say is that Joey has an awesome eye for fashion!
There were some vendors displaying their jewelry and one of the designers wanted to get a picture in front of her kiosk with all of her custom designed jewelry. After the photo, she generously outfitted each of the queens with a crystal faceted ring to match each of our outfits-so pretty!
Finally, the night was drawing to a close and it was time to return to my other life- statistics homework- if only every part of life could be as fun and glamorous as my appearances!
