Tips for Backstage
You will soon realize that behind the scenes of the pageant can be a little hectic… A lot of people felt crammed and some girls misplaced items because they weren't organized. However, with proper preparation you will be good to go!
The dressing room has seats, a long countertop, and bright lights running down both the left and the right side of the room. The middle of the room is clothing racks for all of your beautiful competition items. There’s one room for teens and one for miss contestants. You will be assigned a seat in contestant order. Everyone will have some counter space and there is also room under your seat by your feet. With that being said, here’s a few tips!
If you believe in something, believe in it all the way!

- Only bring what you really need, but also don’t under pack. I suggest making a checklist of the things you'll potentially need backstage and include them in your packet. I think I brought three small bags over, and it was a lot but the things I brought definitely came in handy!
- Organize your belongings before you arrive and stay organized during the show! I looked around the room at the end of the night and people’s stuff was EVERYWHERE. When you use something, put it away. I can guarantee you that the dozens of matching fitness wear outfits, opening number dresses/shoes, and earrings for both will get mixed up if not cautious.\
- Put your name in and on everything!! That way if your belongings are misplaced, you will be able to detect them and retrieve the items. I’m talking wardrobe bags, tags of dresses, bottoms of shoes, the whole shebang. This is super duper helpful!
- Put your jewelry for each outfit in a separate zip block baggie, poke a hole in it, then put it around the top of the hanger of that wardrobe piece. Then you don’t have to dig around and find the earrings you're looking for! When you finish, don’t try to put them back in that bag but instead have a bigger bag for all of your accessories after they've been worn, then reorganize at the hotel that night.
- Help your fellow contestants! Zip their dresses, loan them something if they can’t find theirs, and have fun with one another! This can relieve a lot of stress for someone and is what International Pageant sisters should be doing.
- And last but not least, don’t forget to take pictures throughout the night in your fabulous wardrobe pieces and with your friends. The night goes fast so it easy to forget, but I promise you’ll be disappointed at the end of the week if you don’t have some fun pictures. I’m sure you will all have a lot of people following your journey, so be sure to share these gorgeous photos to your social media!
