Over 60,000 walkers and runners participated in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure to bring awareness and raise money for breast cancer research on October 19 in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Miss Arkansas International, Mollie Parker and I had the opportunity to take part in this wonderful event and support our friends and family members who have battled with breast cancer.
A little over a month ago my aunt, Debbie Neal, was diagnosed with stage zero breast cancer. She recently had a lumpectomy and will undergo radiation treatment for six weeks to prevent the spread of the cancer. Fortunately, because it was detected so early, she will not have to undergo chemotherapy. What saved her life was simply having an annual mammogram, something every woman should do. Please keep her in your prayers.
Much love,
Haley Pontius
