"Friend of Children" Award

I found myself standing before 600-people I so admire. They are the nurses who carefully help young victims of sexual abuse; some are caseworkers trying to rescue families in need; others are volunteers at our state’s crisis nurseries.

There were dozens of organizations all dedicated to preventing child abuse. They, along with the Attorney General’s office and the Governor’s office, were part of the Prevent Child Abuse convention in Illinois. I had been invited to receive a very special award!

My belief is we can do more together as like-minded organizations. That is why Prevent Child Abuse America (PCA) inspires me. They are on the front lines, working diligently to protect young children for whom we as CASA volunteers are committed to helping find safe and permanent homes.

After the luncheon with Illinois PCA Executive Director Roy Harley and PCA Illinois Prevention Specialist Belinda Farr who did a wonderful job presenting the award.

My husband and I attended the PCA luncheon where I was introduced and then received the “Friend of Children Award.” It is a highlight for me and I must thank the convention committee for giving me this beautiful award. May we continue to join forces and serve as voices for all our children.

Be the change!
